Registration for the 2025 Lions Tourney opens on August 30, 2024.  MAKE SURE YOU GET A RECEIPT

It is important that you follow all instructions and FINISH THE REGISTRATION PROCESS including getting a receipt.

Too many teams go through the process BUT DO NOT FINISH the process. I have no way of knowing that you want to come unless you FINISH REGISTRATION PROCESS.

IF YOU DO NOT GET AN EMAIL RECIEPT....THEN YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE REGISTRATION PROCESS AND ARE NOT REGISTERED.

EASTER IS VERY LATE IN 2025 SO THE LIONS TOURNEY IS MOVING FROM IT'S TRADITIONAL DATES BETWEEN PALM SUNDAY AND EASTER FOR AN EARLIER TOURNEY.

NEW CIF SECTION RULES STILL ATTACH A SINGLE POINT PER GAME. SO THE LIONS TOURNEY WILL GIVE EACH TEAM FOUR GAMES. BRACKET WINNERS WILL GO TO A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. ALL OTHER TEAMS WILL PLAY A CONSOLATION GAME ON THE FINAL DAY.

The Lions Tourney has always prided itself on having teams PLAY for the Championship on day four.  However, due to CIF changes and San Diego school district changes, it has gotten exceedingly difficult to schedule 70 plus games on the fly on Wednesday night. Accordingly, as an experiment only the OPEN, CLASSIC AND PREMIER DIVISIONS will play for a championship. All other divisions will have the fourth game previously  scheduled. Champions will be decided on team records and tie breakers if necessary.  ALL TEAMS MUST PLAY FOUR GAMES.  We will do our best to get visiting teams out early on Thursday but no promises can be made due to field availability and umpire availability issues.

TOURNAMENT WILL REMAIN THE SAME

Founded by Mike Morrow and Les Cassie, in 1951, The San Diego Downtown Lions High School Baseball Tournament is the Oldest and Largest High School Tourney in the United States. Traditionally held in the week between Palm Sunday and Easter, games are played for four days by 130 plus high school teams at fields all over San Diego County. With over 8 divisions that cover all skill levels, we have teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation to teams that come from schools with less than 100 students.
